From the Guinness Book of World Records Achievement to founding the Action Icon Awards, La Faye Baker is a true Diamond in the Raw. La Faye Baker is the First African American Stunt Woman to coordinate HBO’s big-budget project titled: Introducing Dorothy Dandridge starring Halle Berry. Among many trials and triumphs, La Faye has performed at her best in charity. With a winning attitude, she empowers young women in the community. La Faye’s mission in the entertainment industry, predominantly lead by men, is to coordinate and fairly lead projects.
La Faye Baker is the FIRST African American stunt woman to coordinate a big budget project, HBO’s special “Introducing Dorothy Dandridge” starring Halle Berry. That was in 1999, 21 years later and Baker is back with HBO, working as the assistant stunt coordinator on Issa Rae’s Insecure. Baker always knew she was fit for a career that would combine her athleticism and fearlessness after breaking the Guinness Book of World Records for successfully twirling 58 hula hoops at one time at the age of 12. From then on, Baker continued to develop her physical abilities, excelling in gymnastics and volleyball, before splitting her time between stunt work and working as a Dandridge. ? At the time, no Probations Officer as an adult. In 1999, Baker was scouted by Academy Award winner Halle Berry and her team to serve as her stunt-coordinator for the big-budgeted, award- winning HBO film, Introducing Dorothy Dandridge. ? At the time, no other African-American woman had served in such capacity.
